Until now, hospital patient safety issues are still a global problem, the Joint Commission International (JCI) & world health organitation (WHO) (2007) reported that in several countries there were 70% incidence of medication errors even though, JCI & WHO (2007) issued a “Nine Life-Saving Patient Safety Solutions” or 9 patient safety solutions. In fact, there are still many patient safety problems, including in Indonesia. The number of incidents related to patient safety is due to the lack of comprehensive socialization to health workers. Patient safety is carried out in all health service units, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, self-protection is considered to be more stringent as an effort to prevent the health environment. Increase the knowledge of health workers about optimizing the application of patient safety in hospitals during the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. This community service focuses on increasing knowledge about optimizing the application of patient safety in hospitals during the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. This community service was carried out at Kusuma Husada University, Surakarta through an International Webinar activity in June 2020 involving all health workers in Indonesia. Activities in this community service include providing socialization about optimizing the application of patient safety in hospitals during the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. Community service was conducted on 234 webinar participants consisting of various educational backgrounds ranging from health workers to students. Community service was carried out smoothly through international webinars using Zoom. 3 participants became material for evaluating this webinar activity with questions and recall back to what has been explained by the resource person. Providing socialization about optimizing the application of patient safety in hospitals during the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia, the hope is that this webinar can become a trigger for implementing patient safety targets in health services, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Patient safety is crucial in the world of health and has become one of the points assessed in the SNARS 1st edition hospital accreditation. The existence of this point in hospital accreditation makes patient safety one of the orientations for the implementation of health services. Not only in the 1st edition of SNARS hospital accreditation, but in JCI (Joint Commission International) or more familiarly, International accreditation also assesses patient safety by referring to 6 Goals. IPSG (International Patient Safety Goals) released by JCI has been applied in almost every hospital around the world. Then this provision became the basis of the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Health by issuing Permenkes-RI no. 1691 / MENKES / PER / VII / 2011. The regulation is related to the safety of patients who are hospitalized.

Health workers are a group of people who are required to implement patient safety by paying attention to the achievement of 6 indicators, including accuracy of patient identification, increased effective communication, increased drug safety or high alerts that must be watched out for, certainty of location, procedures and patient operations, reduction of the risk of infection after using health services, and reduced risk of falling. Patient safety must be prioritized in every medical treatment in health services. Every medical staff must understand it, so that they can apply it well, this is applied at any time whether in any situation, especially during the Covid 19 pandemic.

The Covid-19 pandemic that occurred in Indonesia has been in for at least a year. Not a few victims died as a result of this pandemic. The Covid-19 pandemic that is growing rapidly in Indonesia requires all hospitals to be able to adapt quickly and ensure safe services for patients and health workers considering that Covid 19 can attack anyone, not a few health workers have also been affected by Covid 19. However, in harsh situations and a less than optimal work environment, the risk to patient and healthcare worker safety during this pandemic increases.
